ANDREW BOYSEN, PRINCIPAL

Andy BoysenAndrew Boysen was a long-time English teacher at HMBHS who then became the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction in 2019. Three years later, Mr. Boysen became the Principal of Half Moon Bay High School. His vision is to give students a safe, equitable, and comprehensive education. He strives to promote democratic values and a growth mindset to students in an environment where continuous improvement is brought about by the teamwork of all stakeholders.

He was born and raised in the Harbor Area of Los Angeles before graduating from CSU Chico and Humboldt State University. He has taught at an IB school in Ecuador and Butte Community College. He likes to spend time with his family traveling, doing outdoor sports, gardening, going to the theatre, and cooking. He has truly enjoyed working for the Coastside and sees his identity firmly linked to its community.

Lisa Longaker, Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction

Lisa Longaker is entering her 31st year with CUSD. She spent 26 years as a teacher at Cunha Intermediate School, followed by four years as the Career and Technical Education TOSA at Half Moon Bay High School. 


Ms. Longaker has two children who attended CUSD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. She has taught generations of Coastside families and brings extensive experience and deep community knowledge to her new position.


As Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, her mission is to support all students in achieving their personal educational goals—whether in high school, postsecondary education, or their chosen career paths.

 

 

Cristian Aguilar, Assistant Principal of Pupil Services

Mr. Aguilar is excited to join the Half Moon Bay High School community as the new Assistant Principal of Student Services. He was born in Michoacán, Mexico, and immigrated to the U.S. at age 9. He grew up in San Jose, just 45 minutes south of Half Moon Bay.

He’s entering his 12th year in education, having spent 8 years in the classroom teaching Spanish Language Arts and Social Studies in a middle school bilingual immersion program, followed by a year as an instructional coach and the past two years as an assistant principal. Mr. Aguilar began his studies at De Anza College, earned his B.A. from UC Berkeley, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Santa Clara University, and he’s currently pursuing his EdD in International and Multicultural Education.

Mr. Aguilar is thrilled to now live on the Coastside and looks forward to partnering with students and families. He loves the beach, long walks, and learning new things. When you see him around campus, ask him about his 4-year-old Australian Shepherd, Dante! 


Michael Barragan, Student Success Advisor and Athletic Director

Mike brings 20 years of coaching and teaching experience in a variety of roles. He has a passion for helping students understand how to be successful in the classroom and life. 

Born and raised in Half Moon Bay, he attended Hatch, El Granada, Cunha and HMBHS before earning a degree in Sociology at SFSU and his Masters in Special Education at Notre Dame De Namur University.
