Mission Statement
The mission of the Half Moon Bay High School Counseling Department is to provide a proactive, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate counseling program to address students' academic, college, and career goals, in addition to supporting their personal and social/emotional needs. This is accomplished through partnerships with parents/guardians, staff, and community stakeholders, enabling all students to become respectable, persevering, successful, engaged, productive, contributing citizens, and lifelong learners in a diverse and ever-changing global world.
Vision Statement
The Half Moon Bay High School Counseling Department is committed to maintaining an atmosphere in which students develop the desire to learn by working in partnership with their peers, parents, staff, and the community. We aim to help students at Half Moon Bay High School graduate as open-minded, adaptable, critical thinkers, problem solvers, self-advocates, and kind, unique individuals who are able to succeed in an ever-changing society.
Beliefs of the Counseling Department:
- All students at HMBHS will have access to counseling services, regardless of race, culture, creed, background, gender, or sex.
- All students have a right to be heard.
- All students will have an academic plan to meet graduation requirements and be aware of their post-secondary options, including college, the workforce, trades, or the military.
- All students will be encouraged to pursue their academic passions and complete the A-G 4-year university admissions requirements.
- All students will be provided with culturally relevant social, emotional, and mental support.
