Counseling Department's Mission Statement:
The mission of the Half Moon Bay High School Counseling Department is to provide a proactive, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate counseling program to address student's academic, college, and career goals in addition to supporting their personal and social/emotional needs. This is accomplished through partnerships with parents/guardians, staff, and community stakeholders to enable all students to become respectable, persevering, successful, engaged, productive, contributing citizens and lifelong learners in a diverse and ever changing global world.

Counseling Department's Vision Statement:
The Half Moon Bay High School Counseling Department is committed to maintaining an atmosphere in which students develop the desire to learn by working in partnership with their peers, parents, staff, and the community. We want to help students at Half Moon Bay High School graduate as open-minded, adaptable, critical thinkers, problem solvers, self-advocates and kind unique individuals that are able to be successful in an ever changing society.

The Counseling Department believes:
1. All students at HMBHS will have access to counseling services, regardless of race/culture/creed/background/gender or sex.
2. All students have a right to be heard.
3. All students will have an academic plan to meet graduation requirements and be aware of their post-secondary options, whether it be college, the work force, trade/s, or the military.
4. All students will be encouraged to pursue their academic passions and be encouraged to complete the A-G 4-year university admissions requirements.
5. All students will be provided with culturally relevant social/emotional and mental support.
