ANDY BOYSEN, PRINCIPAL

Andy BoysenAndrew Boysen was a long-time English teacher at HMBHS who then became the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction in 2019. Three years later, Mr. Boysen became the Principal of Half Moon Bay High School. His vision is to give students a safe, equitable, and comprehensive education. He strives to promote democratic values and a growth mindset to students in an environment where continuous improvement is brought about by the teamwork of all stakeholders.

He was born and raised in the Harbor Area of Los Angeles before graduating from CSU Chico and Humboldt State University. He has taught at an IB school in Ecuador and Butte Community College. He likes to spend time with his family traveling, doing outdoor sports, gardening, going to the theatre, and cooking. He has truly enjoyed working for the Coastside and sees his identity firmly linked to its community.

Deanna Tower, Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction

DEANNA TOWER,

A long-time teacher at Half Moon Bay High School, Deanna Tower stepped into the role of Assistant Principal of Pupil Services in 2018. Over her years as a teacher, Deanna taught Math, English, and Leadership. She coached softball, volleyball, and basketball for many years.  

Born and raised on the coast, Ms. Tower is a proud alumna of the Cabrillo Unified School District. In addition to her love for education is her love for the Coastside. The black and orange roots run deep! Above all is her love for her family, both at home and at school. "What is so special about Half Moon Bay High School is that we are a family here as well. Our students and staff exude a tremendous amount of school pride and unity! There's nothing like it! GO COUGARS!"

David Jones, Assistant Principal of Pupil Services

Mr. Jones
Mr. Jones is originally from Tampa, FL. The United States Coast Guard brought him to San Francisco. After serving four years, he attended the College of Marin and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Statistics. He has been teaching for 18 years. He has been at Half Moon Bay High School for the last 14 years.

 

 

 

 

Michael Barragan, Student Success Advisor

Mike brings 20 years of coaching and teaching experience in a variety of roles. He has a passion for helping students understand how to be successful in the classroom and life. 

Born and raised in Half Moon Bay, he attended Hatch, El Granada, Cunha and HMBHS before earning a degree in Sociology at SFSU and his Masters in Special Education at Notre Dame De Namur University.
