Course Descriptions

What are the Common Core State Standards?

Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are educational standards that describe what students should know and be able to do in each subject in each grade. In California, the State Board of Education decides on the standards for all students, from kindergarten through high school. Visit the Common Core SS page to access more information.

Personal Learning Plan Program (PLP)

The Counseling Department at HMBHS has developed and continues to improve the PLP or Personal Learning Plan Program to ensure that all students receive academically focused counseling services specific to their needs at each grade level. For more information visit the Counseling page.

Advanced Placement

The AP program challenges students academically and prepares them to take AP tests that allow them to earn college credits while in high school. Visit the Advanced Placement page to learn more about our AP program.

English Language Development (ELD)

ELD classes are open to students classified as English Language Learners (ELL), as defined by the State Department of Education. Visit the English Language Development page for a complete description of these courses.

Immersion Support in High School

Spanish for Spanish Speakers I, II, III, Spanish III, AP Spanish Language, and AP Spanish Literature.
